Rogue Studios understands that you want to make your portrait session unique to your own individual style. While parents may want a more formal and traditional look, friends may enjoy a more casual and personal style. What maters the most is that we capture the essence of who you are as a maturing young adult.
In order to truly capture your style and look we suggest a few simple tips in order to better prepare you for the day of your photo shoot.
CLOTHING
- Bring along multiple outfits that define who you are and your style. (casual and formal)
- Clothing with solid colors and long sleeves work best if your style permits.
- In addition to these specific outfits, bring matching shoes, socks, and accessories that will add the finishing touch to your portraits.
- Be sure to inspect outfits for any stains, flaws, and wrinkles should be ironed beforehand.
- Think about bringing outfits and accessories that reflect your interests. Such as sports equipment, uniforms, letter jackets, musical instruments, and any items that will make your portraits more unique and personal.
PERSONAL ATTENTION
- Consider getting a haircut and/or style a week before your session date.
- Style your hair before your photo session.
- Girls, choose an easy to manage hairstyle you feel comfortable wearing and will need minimal touch-ups throughout your photo session.
- Guys, bring along a brush or comb for quick touch-ups between shots if necessary. Also be sure to trim and shave before the session.
(Some male clients have even shaved goatees, mustaches, and beards in between shots to be creative in there looks.)
- Fingernails,
- Girls, trim and paint your nails (neutral colors or a clear coat).
- Guys, trim and inspect cuticles.
- Limit the amount of sun exposure before your photo session to avoid tan lines and sunburns.
- Pose in front of a full length mirror.
- See what poses you like and remember how they feel so that when in front of the camera you can repeat them without needing to see yourself.
- Practice different facial expressions, moods, and emotions in order to have a variety of looks for your gallery.
- If you wear glasses please keep in mind that they may cause a reflection or glare in your portraits. Consider removing them or contacting your optician about loaning a similar frame without lenses.
- Get plenty of rest the night before.
MAKEUP
- If applying your own or having someone else apply your makeup, apply it before you arrive and also bring along any products you may need for touch-ups.
- Apply concealer in order to minimize blemishes. Also apply powder in order to remove any unwanted glare from natural or artificial lighting (flash).
- Once makeup is complete let us worry about the rest. Our standard portrait edits can remove minor blemishes and under eye shadows.

FINISHING TOUCHES
- Bring along CD’s, MP3 player or ipod to play your favorite types of music that will better bring out your personality and make your session more enjoyable.
- Family and friends are more than welcome. Not only will most parents want to be a part of this moment in your life but a close friend might as well. Have them be in a few of your photos if you like also. Having someone with you can also help to make your session that much more fun. We do ask that you limit the number of people you bring as to many can befom a distraction also.
